Places for People, the Riverside Group and Peabody – three of the UK's largest housing and regeneration groups – have joined forces to deliver the Green Spaces for People portfolio. Each organisation has a long track record of providing high-quality housing as well as a range of services that make neighbourhoods better places to live.

Places for People

Places for People is one of the largest property management, development and regeneration companies in the UK.

With assets in excess of £2.9 billion, Places for People currently manages more than 60,000 homes, stretching from Edinburgh to the Isle of Wight. It has a long track record of successful development, from large-scale regeneration projects to the creation of whole new communities.

What distinguishes Places for People from other developers is its ability to manage the places it creates. It is committed to the long-term success of its neighbourhoods and designs and delivers services to improve them.

The Places for People vision is to create neighbourhoods of choice – which means much more than just building homes. It also provides job and training opportunities, access to affordable childcare, support for businesses, financial products such as mortgages and loans, and specialist care and support services that enable people to live independently in their own home.

Places for People is a not-for-dividend organisation but also takes a business-minded approach to developing products and services. This means that what it does should not only help them to achieve its vision, but should also be commercially viable.

Places for People delivers its vision through a number of closely linked companies, each of which offers its own expertise while benefitting from the financial strength of the Group.

The Riverside Group

The Riverside Group owns or manages around 50,000 properties throughout England.

The organisation's record of achievement dates back to their inception as Liverpool Improved Houses in 1928. Since that time products and services have evolved in response to the needs of customers and it recently won the title of Social Landlord of the Year at the Housing Excellence Awards.

While the Group benefits from being a large national organisation, its service delivery is localised through a network of neighbourhood offices that work with customers to develop services aimed at making a real difference to their lives.

Peabody

One of London's largest and oldest housing associations, Peabody was established in 1862 by the philanthropic American banker, George Peabody, to alleviate poverty in the capital. Its mission for the 21st century is to make London a city of opportunity for all by providing as many people as possible with a good home, a real sense of purpose and a strong feeling of belonging. Peabody has nearly 20,000 homes and is a major regeneration agency, providing a wide range of projects and programmes aimed at creating thriving and sustainable communities across London. These cover employment and training (through its Neighbourhood Learning Centres); specialist housing and activities for older people; support for young people; volunteering; financial inclusion; family support; and health and well-being.

The Big Lottery Fund

The Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces programme was launched in November 2005 to help communities enjoy and improve their local environments.
